Oil Addiction

Freedom from Oil activists rally at
an automaker's alliance meeting in Sacramento, May 2007

Oil addiction endangers our economy as rising gasoline prices wreck family budgets and the U.S. loses clean energy market share to companies in Japan and Europe; oil addiction endangers our environment as greenhouse gas emissions continue to fuel global climate change; and oil addiction endangers human rights as we are sucked deeper into dangerous wars for oil.

Considering the transportation industry alone uses nearly 70% of the oil consumed in the US, making our cars and trucks go farther on a gallon of gas is the biggest single step we can take to reduce global warming pollution, prevent oil wars, and save consumers money at the pump. We must act now to demand America's auto industry play a leadership role in putting clean, green, affordable cars on the road. The technology exists; how long do we have to wait for the auto industry to use it?
