Glory to Jesus Christ!
This afternoon I got my truck back from the repair man who had been working on it for more than two months. It is not that he is slow, he knew that I had my mother’s car to drive while she was recovering from her surgery. My mother drove me there, the first time she has driven for two months. I got my truck and headed to her house. At her house awaiting was some of her awesome soup for after tomorrow's Divine Liturgy and some corn bread. I sampled the corn bread when I got here at the church. You don’t know what you will be missing if you are not here Sunday. The soup is awesome, the corn bread is great, and the words of the Divine Liturgy are even more awesome and greater. The Divine Liturgy starts at 10:00 am. If you are not able to join us tomorrow, remember there are services every day the St. Mary the Protectress. And there is usually some soup also. To learn the services times during the week, call the church at 574-540-2048.
God is great and so is the soup. And I am sure that He had some thing to with the soup as well.
Below is something I recently read, and thought you would enjoy it as well. Hammer the man who fixed man truck is sort of like the silversmith in the story.
Refiners fire !!!!
Once a woman was puzzled and wondered what the Holy Word meant in the verse:
"He sits as a refiner and purifier of silver" about the character and nature of God.
She decided to find out the process of refining silver. She called a silversmith and made an appointment to watch him at work.
As she watched, the silversmith held a piece of silver over the fire and let it heat up.
He explained that in refining silver, one needed to hold the silver in the middle of the fire
where the flames were hottest so as to burn away all the impurities.
The woman thought about God holding us in such a hot spot; then she thought again about the verse that says:
"He sits as a refiner and purifier of silver." She asked the silversmith if it was true that he had to sit there in front of the fire
the whole time the silver was being refined. The man answered that he not only had to sit there holding the silver,
but he had to keep his eyes on the silver the entire time it was in the fire. If the silver was left a moment too long in the flames, it would be destroyed.
The woman was silent for a moment. Then she asked the silversmith, "How do you know when the silver is fully refined?"
He smiled at her and answered, "Oh, that's easy -- when I see my image in it."
If today you are feeling the heat of the fire, remember that God has his eye on you ... And, no matter what you are going through now,
you will be a better person in the end Because God will be watching you until He sees His image in you!
And He shall sit as a refiner and purifier of silver. Mal 3:3
